Hilary Kinahan is a visual artist living in County Westmeath. She studied Fine Art in Crawford College of Art & Design, followed by a post-graduate degree in Art & Design in Education in Limerick College of Art & Design. She taught for a number of years before taking time out from her career to focus on motherhood.
Five years ago she returned to teaching adult classes and joined Leinster Printmaking Studio in Clane Co. Kildare. Since then she has exhibited her artworks in many group shows in Ireland, Italy, UK and Bulgaria.
Kinahan won best emerging Artist award 2021 in the Luan Gallery in Athlone, where earlier this year she held her first solo exhibition, ‘Rapt’. Her work displays a connection between memory and place, the cycle of life and nature.
She documents an ever-changing landscape through photography, drawing and printmaking techniques, such as etching, drypoint collographs and monoprints. Barns and boglands are the most common elements in her artwork.
