“If these walls could talk”
We know they would tell us tales of powerful kings, Francian friars, erudite judges, and a C.O.I. congregation.
We are curious to learn something of the more recent ‘history’ of this significant site.
To mark the festival of Bealtaine we would like to invite our local seniors to an open day on Sunday 11/5/25 to share with us your memories of Ennis Friary (the old Abbey) before the opening of the visitor service.
As a child did you play amongst the ruins? Climb the tower! watch the match. Did you attend the Ennis 750 ceremony held on site – do you have any old photos you would like to share with us.

Pop in for a chat with the guides and maybe run in to an old friend, Sunday 11/5/25 from 10.00am to 12.00pm and again from 2.00pm to 4.00pm
If you cannot visit on the day our email is ennisfriary@opw.ie  you can also find us on Facebook if you would like to share any stories or photos during the Bealtaine festival which runs for the month of May.
