Sligo Abbey marks its official 2025 season opening with free special interest tours, talks, music and refreshments on April 2nd!

The event will kick off with a warm welcome from the Sligo Abbey team, followed by a brief history of the site by Head Guide Dr. Andrew Whitefield.

A lunch-time tour of the Abbey will delve into the Order of Dominican Friars, who established their community in Sligo in the 13th century, the same year as the foundation of Sligo Town.

Veteran Guide, Barry Mulligan, will deliver a tour on the Abbey's use as a mass burial ground during the cholera breakout, and its connection to Bram Stoker's Dracula.

This eventful day will end with a trad session from local community groups and the Sligo Abbey guides.
