Tucked away in the heart of metropolitan Dublin are the Dubh Linn Gardens, named after the black pool which gave Dublin its name. The gardens form a welcome retreat for locals and office workers as well as visitors to Dublin Castle and the Chester Beatty Library. Shade trees and shrubs and flowers filled with heady scents make this not only a restful green space for humans but a welcome oasis for biodiversity in the city.

This Biodiversity Week, join Charlotte Salter-Townshend to discover how the planting schemes and maintenance here allows birds, bees, and other species to thrive. Charlotte is a Marketing Officer for Heritage Ireland OPW. For a decade, she worked a guide at the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland, designing and delivering talks and tours on a wide range of topics and issues relating to plant life.
