Dr Kieran O’Conor, from the School of Geography, Archaeology and Irish Studies at University of Galway, will deliver a lecture entitled "The O’Connors (O’Conors) of Connacht".

This lecture will examine the history and archaeology of the the various branches of the O’Connors of Connacht – namely, the O’Conor Don, O’Conor Roe and O’Conor Sligo septs.

Various other O’Connor clans historically located in other provinces of Ireland are not related to the O’Connors of Connacht, being descended from different people.

The lecture coincides with this year's 400th anniversary of the installation of the O Connor Monument at the Abbey.
