poster advertising a culture night event in Doneraile Court on september 20th at 3pm. The event is titled The secrets and mysteries of freemasonry
Have you always wondered what exactly the Freemasons did? What it represented? What kind of world Elisabeth St Leger was initiated into as a young girl in Doneraile court in 1713.
Doneraile court is inextricably linked to being the first place that a lady Freemason was initiated into the order in 1713.
Elisabeth Aldworth (nee St Leger) was only 17 when she inadvertently witnessed a Freemason meeting in Doneraile court in 1713.
She was initiated as a Freemason subsequently as the other consequences were unthinkable for a daughter of the house.
Elisabeth historically became the very first woman to be initiated into the order, and the first Lady Freemason.
Freemasonry is often clouded with mystery and secrecy throughout the ages, we have invited members of the Provincial grand lodge of Munster to enlighten and clarify our perceptions of modern Freemasons.
If you would like to attend, we have 40 free tickets available, in celebration of Culture Night 2024.
The event will start at 3pm and tickets are given out on a first come first served basis.
Tickets will be available from 2pm on the day at Doneraile Court ticket office.
