Patrick Pearse moved his avant-garde bilingual school to the Hermitage at Rathfarnham in 1910. In order to foster an inspiring, creative environment for his students, he transformed a central space in the house into an Art Gallery. Pearse’s social circle included members of the Celtic cultural revival. Many were artists and supporters of Pearse’s education venture. They gifted pieces of their work to beautify the school. This tour looks at a selection of these artworks and the stories behind them.
