A man sits with 18th century pipes resting on his knee

Originally from Dublin but living in Conamara, Ronan Browne is one of the leading performers of Irish music. Since taking up the pipes in 1972, he has absorbed the music of the old masters: pipers Willie Clancy, Séamus Ennis, Johnny Doran; fiddle-players Tommie Potts, Denis Murphy; and his grandmother, the much-loved singer, Delia Murphy.

An engaging solo performer who delights in his audience, Ronan straddles that difficult divide between true Irish music and the modern world, his music ranging from solo work and his celebrated 40-year duet with veteran musician Peter O’Loughlin (1929-2017), 30 years playing with the powerhouse Irish music trio CRAN, on to writing and performing modern electronic music for film & television, and as the original piper with both the Afro Celt Sound System and Riverdance. When not playing, Ronan works as a recording engineer and designer of CD covers.

The service to the Castle will run every hour from 10.05am to 4.05pm, and the return service will run from the Castle to Carrigtwohill Station every hour up to 7.30pm.
