Teampall MhicDuach
An 11th century church dedicated to Colmán Mac Duach, a celebrated student of St. Éanna’s. Legend says a Scotsman once tried to remove the massive lintel over the doorway to make a quern-stone of it, but the church refused to yield and his arm became trapped in the masonry. He was only released when he confessed his evil intent.
On the outside of the north wall, near the west end, is an enigmatic carving of what appears to be a horse. Nearby are several cross inscribed stones. In the field across the road is another small medieval building known as Teampall na Naomh (‘the temple of the saints’).
