Kilmallock Dominican Priory
Kilmallock Priory, also known as St. Saviour's Priory, is a 13th-century Dominican friary located in the historic town of Kilmallock, County Limerick, Ireland. This well-preserved priory stands as a symbol of Ireland's rich medieval past.
The Priory, set on the banks of the River Loobagh, is a reflection of the town's significance during the 13th to 17th centuries. Kilmallock was a major centre for religion, trade, and commerce, second only to Limerick City in the region.
The Priory's architecture is a marvel, with its medieval buildings, including the 13th-century Collegiate Parish Church, over 1200m of the medieval town wall, and the 16th-century houses of the wealthy town merchants.
Visiting Kilmallock Priory is like stepping back in time, offering a unique insight into the lives and beliefs of the people who lived during this period.
