We expect all aspects of a visit to an OPW Heritage Site, including the Cafés and Tearooms,to showcase the best of Ireland for our domestic and international visitors. The food and beverage offering plays a key role in the presentation of our national heritage.

Portumna Castle and Gardens
The Office of Public Works are seeking tenders for the Provision of Tea Room/Café Services at Portumna Castle and Gardens, Portumna, Co Galway, H53YK27.
The Tea Rooms are sited in the 17th Century Courtyard area of the Castle grounds. Portumna Castle and Gardens attracts many international visitors. However, the majority of visitors to the site are domestic and are repeat visitors. Portumna Castle and Gardens is a popular site for families as the estate provides areas of interest for all age groups. Portumna Forest Park surrounds the national monument site, this park is a great asset to the location, and visitors to the park regularly frequent the castle grounds and the tea rooms. The river Shannon and Lough Derg are both in the locality meaning that Portumna castle and gardens provides an excellent destination for the hinterland in which it lies. Portumna Castle and Gardens and the tea rooms attract many family groups at weekends and throughout the open season. There are walking and cycling trails in the area that provide customers to the premises also.
