Kindlestown Castle
The creation of Kindlestown Castle is clouded in confusion: while some sources say that it was Albert de Kenley, a sheriff of county Kildare, who built the castle, others say it was built by the Archbolds, or that de Kenley may have started the build, but the Archbolds completed it. It is believed to have been purchased by the Earl of Meath in the 17th
Most likely built in the early 1300s, Kindlestown is a fine example of a two-storey hall-house, which refers to a house that contains a central hall.
Today only the north wall remains intact.
