As part of Heritage Week, Barryscourt Castle will be hosting a free Bat Talk and Walk on Wednesday the 20th of August from 1-2pm. The talk will be delivered by Dr. Darragh Murphy and Simon Furney from Flynn Furney Environmental Consultants.

The talk will take approximately 1 hour, consisting of a brief tour around the grounds of the castle to explore the ecology and various adaptations that allow bats to fly, navigate and feed; and a presentation on the bat monitoring equipment and artificial roosting structures that have been employed in the conservation of the bats at the castle.

This event is free, however advance booking is necessary. Contact barryscourtcastle@opw.ie to secure your place. Some drop in places will be made available.
