Royal Hospital Kilmainham

An exterior image of the Rotl Hospital Kilmainham. A fountain sits in the centre of the image in the middle of the formal gardens.

The Formal Gardens in the Royal Hospital today are a place of tranquillity and greenery. Throughout its history, it has had multiple uses, designs and hosted many events. Join us as we travel through this diverse history. How it came to be, why those decisions were made and who did they benefit. Furthermore, we discuss how the garden was painstakingly restored over a period of nearly two decades, the restrictions during this restoration and decisions made.

Meeting place is the OPW stand in the central courtyard of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham. It is located beside the entrance to IMMA. Please be there 5 minutes before the tour is due to start. No booking required.
