Our Guide and Biodiversity Officer for the site, Conal Guilfoyle, will be hosting two free guided walks of Ross Island on Saturday, August 23rd at 10.30am and 2.30pm as part of Heritage Week 2025. The walks will explore the human history of the area going as far back as the Bronze Age copper mines. He will highlight and discuss the various habitats and species present along the way. This is an outdoor event which will involve walking along uneven terrain for approximately one hour so appropriate footwear and clothing are a must. The meeting point will be the yew tree in Ross Castle Courtyard.

This is a free event, offered as part of the Heritage Week programme. Spaces are limited so we advise anyone interested to mail us at rosscastle@opw.ie to register their interest. There may be also be places available on the day.
