Justin MacCarthy, one of the MacCarthy's of Muskerry in mid-Cork, was the first commander of the Irish Brigade in the French army of Louis XIV. OPW Guide Doug Lucey will present an illustrated talk on this intriguing Irish figure of local, national & international importance. Doug shall focus on Justin MacCarthy's Cork connections, his involvement in the Williamite War and on his accomplished French military career.

This is a free and fully seated event to take place in the Gunpowder Magazine at Charles Fort.
