Edward Cecil Guinness purchased Farmleigh in 1873. He was the great grandson of Arthur Guinness the founder of the brewery. Benjamin’s library, now known as the Benjamin Iveagh Library, Garech founder of Claddagh Records and Desmond co-founder of The Irish Georgian Society.
