Location

Royal Hospital Kilmainham

An exterior image of the Rotl Hospital Kilmainham. A fountain sits in the centre of the image in the middle of the formal gardens.

Here at the Royal Hospital, we are delighted to launch our 2024 lecture series. With 1,500 years of occupation and use, the Royal Hospital has been utilised and changed to fit a wide array of uses and functions. Drawing on that unique character of the site, these talks draw on that wide range to help tell the vibrant history and legacy of the grounds and its surroundings.

Dr. David Murphy is a graduate of University College, Dublin and Trinity College, Dublin. At present he works as a lecturer in military history and strategic studies at Maynooth University. He has also lectured abroad at various institutions including the Dutch Military Academy, Breda, West Point Military Academy, South African Military Academy Saldanha and the US Command and Staff College, Fort Leavenworth.
