A talk focused on the life and contributions of Sir William Chambers (1723–1796), the esteemed architect of the Casino of Marino, will delve into his extraordinary architectural achievements in both Ireland and Britain. Chambers, a leading figure of the 18th century, is famous for his unique ability to blend classical design elements with new ideas, resulting in buildings that are both visually appealing and practical.

The Casino of Marino is an important example of his neoclassical style, highlighting his skill in form and decorative detail. Additionally, his other important projects, including Somerset House in London and various famous buildings in Dublin, further demonstrate his profound influence on the architectural landscape of the period.

This talk will both highlight his most famous works and explore the wider context of his impact on the architectural styles that developed in the British Isles during his lifetime.

Tickets are free but must be booked in advance through Eventbrite.
