This talk explores the birth of Irish archaeology through the lives and legacies of R.A.S Stewart Macalister and Sean P. O’Riordain.
It examines how their contrasting backgrounds shaped their approaches to understanding and communicating Ireland’s past. This talk will look at how the excavation of history was deeply tied with Irelands politics in the 1910s to the 1950s.
