A statue of Michael Collins

Tá áthas ar an bhFoireann Oideachais turas speisialta "An Coileánach agus an Caisleán" a chur ar siúl i mí Eanáir 2026!

Bígí linn agus éistigí le scéal Michael Collins agus conas a thug sé faoi chumhacht na Breataine in Éirinn a scriosadh le linn Chogadh na Saoirse.

Beidh Audrey libh, duine de threoraithe an Chaisleáin, chun sibh a threorú trí thailte an Chaisleáin agus trí na Seomraí Stáit. Labhróidh sí faoi ghníomhaíochtaí Collins agus é ina cheannaire ar shaighdiúirí, ar spiairí agus ar an 'Squad' míchlúiteach!

Samhlóidh sibh ar chóras riaracháin na Breataine mar a bhíodh sé i gCaisleán Bhaile Átha tráth agus cloisfidh sibh faoin lá stairiúil i mí Eanáir 1922 nuair a d'aistrigh cumhacht ó rialtas na Breataine do Rialtas Sealadach na hÉireann, a raibh Michael Collins ina Chathaoirleach ann.

Mairfidh an turas uair an chloig agus beidh leath den turas amuigh faoin aer. Beidh an turas saor in aisce ach ní mór duit clárú.

The Education Team is delighted to offer a Specialised History Tour this January! Join Tour Guide Audrey on a tour that explores the revolutionary leader Michael Collins with specific emphasis on his connection to and interaction with the British administration at Dublin Castle.

As visitors explore selected rooms of the State Apartments, Audrey will delve into Collins and the Castle covering the site's history, the 1922 Handover as it really happened, Collins' roles as soldier and spy, his involvement in the 1916 Easter Rising, his internment at Frongoch, the Anglo-Irish Treaty negotiations, the War of Independence, the Dublin Castle spy network, the Squad and other keys events like Bloody Sunday and the murder of McKee, Clancy and Clune. Join us this January to explore Collins' legacy in the context of the Castle!

This tour is free of charge. Booking is essential as places are limited. Bookings are by email only. Please note that the first half of the tour will take place outside. Please bring along suitable clothing in the case of rain.
