Ballylanders Ringfort
Ballylanders Ringfort, located in County Limerick, is a significant archaeological site that echoes Ireland's ancient past. Founded approximately AD 400, and in use until as late as the 17th century, it is one of over 45,000 ringforts scattered across the Irish landscape.
This ringfort, like others, was a residential enclosure, providing a glimpse into the lives of our ancestors. It was a hub of activity, a fortified settlement that was home to a thriving community. The ringfort's structure, with its circular enclosure, is a testament to the architectural ingenuity of the time.
Despite centuries of weathering, Ballylanders Ringfort stands resilient, its ruins narrating tales of a bygone era. It offers a window into Ireland's early medieval period, a time of significant cultural and societal development.
Today, the ringfort’s enduring presence continues to captivate, offering a tangible connection to Ireland's rich and diverse history.
