Tacumshane Windmill

Tacumshane windmill was built in 1846 by James Moran, and is a significant example of mid-19th-century industrial heritage in County Wexford. It was one of five operational windmills in the county at the turn of the 20th century. However, by the time Garry Murphy acquired it in 1930, the windmill had fallen into disrepair. Murphy undertook restoration efforts, replacing damaged machinery with parts salvaged from a storm-damaged windmill at Ballyfane Crossroads in Carne, Co. Wexford.

The windmill is notable as the last working example of its kind in Ireland. It underwent extensive restoration from 1953 to 1973 by the Office of Public Works.
