The majestic setting of Boyle Abbey will serve as the focal point of a lecture on patronage and its impact on the work of stonemasons in medieval Connaught delivered by Gary Dempsey, co-founder and creative director of Digital Heritage Age and lecturer at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) - Galway City.
Boyle Abbey's unique architectural features and impressive array of stone carvings will feature prominently in the presentation, bringing to life the incredible legacy left by stonemasons working in the west of |reland in 12th and 13th centuries and the patrons who supported the projects on which they were employed.
Partly outdoors so comfortable walking shoes and weather appropriate clothing needed.
