Join one of our expert guides for a specialised tour about the Great Famine and the Irish workhouse system. This tour is part of the Dublin Festival of History.
Two departments were headquartered inside The Custom House that were involved in the administration of Ireland during the Great Famine: The Poor Law Commission supervised 163 workhouses across the island of Ireland and the Board of Public Works was in charge of the famine relief work projects. This tour explains the work of both departments during that harrowing time in Irish history.
This tour is not recommended for children under the age of 12.
