During this year's Dublin Festival of History why not join a free guided tour of the Custom House, James Gandon's neo-classical masterpiece, and learn about three Irish writers who once worked here.
Memoirist and historian Sir Jonah Barrington held a sinecure position at the Custom House as a legal adviser, popular-fiction author Maurice Walsh was a Customs & Excise Officer, and Flann O'Brien, comic novelist, journalist, and much more, was once employed here in the Department of Local Government.
Getting Here
The Custom House is located in Dublin city centre on the north quay facing the river Liffey between Butt Bridge and Talbot Memorial Bridge.
