Location
Ross Castle
In the time of the O’Donoghue Ross clan in the 15th century, the Great Hall of Ross Castle played host to feasting and merriment. Situated at the top of the tower with stunning views out over Lough Leane and of the Purple Mountains, it certainly offers the best seat in the house. For too long the Hall has remained silent, the Minstrels Gallery unused. But no longer. This Culture Night, September 18th, we will play host to local traditional musicians Dean and Brandon Griffin and experience some sense of what the room was intended for, hearing the oak roof and limestone floor and walls reverberate with the sound Irish music for the first time in centuries.
The event is offered Free of Charge but spaces are strictly limited. Please contact rosscastle@opw.ie to reserve a spot. Tickets are issued on a First Come, First Served basis. There is a maximum of two reservations per person. The spiral stairs in the castle are uneven and can be quite difficult for those with mobility issues.
