The Royal Irish Academy of Music, in association with the Office of Public Works, is delighted to present this well-established annual showcase concert at Farmleigh House, featuring students from the Young Artist Programme. The Young Artists are high-potential students from Junior RIAM who have expressed an interest in pursuing music at third level and entering the profession.

This concert features instrumentalists from the Keyboard, Strings and Wind, Brass, and Percussion faculties, with students performing short solo works, accompanied by Dearbhla Brosnan on piano. Included in this year's programme are Sarah Brazil (violin), Ai Shen Sun (cello), Ava Duffy (piano), Kian Lee (violin), Ruadhri O'Dea (piano), Simon Carey (clarinet), Juliette Carroll-Been (piano), Adam Joyce (cello), Riona Cahill (piano), and Emily Brazil (soprano).

At this very early time in their careers, the benefit to these student musicians of playing on stage in the Ballroom of Farmleigh House is that it gives them the invaluable experience in their public performing lives of appearing in front of a deeply appreciative and encouraging audience. This opportunity helps to set going the professional future fortunes of these amazingly talented individuals.

Now in the 176th year of its existence, the Royal Irish Academy of Music was founded by Francis and Joseph Robinson, John Smith, Samuel Pigott, Charles Graves and John Stanford, amongst others, and first opened its doors on the 1st March 1848.

This concert is presented by the OPW as part of the 2024 cultural programme at Farmleigh House.

Doors open 7.30, performance 8pm.
