Info on the Lecture: Creevelea Abbey, just outside Dromahaire, Co. Leitrim, was founded as a Franciscan Friary in 1508 under O'Rourke patronage. The ruins of the friary are in relatively good shape and talk will concentrate on elements of its architecture and history.

Bio: Dr O'Conor joined the staff of NUI, Galway (now the University of Galway) in September 2000.  His research interests, on which he has published widely, include castles, medieval rural settlement, later medieval Gaelic Ireland and the medieval landscape.
