Doorus Wedge Tomb
Doorus Wedge Tomb is one of the best preserved tombs, in original condition, in the country, completely void of any interference. This wedged-shaped tomb is 2.5m long and tapers in height from its open front (south-west) of 1.5m to 1.2m at the back (north-east). The orientation of this wedge tomb denotes a connection to astronomical events. Doorus Wedge Tomb is built using two opposite side orthostats, one back-stone and is covered by one single roof stone (2.4m in length), on top of which are field stones. Wedge tombs date to the Neolithic age and are funerary monuments. Over 500 wedge tombs have been identified in the country. The beginning of the Bronze age saw the phasing out of wedge tombs.
